Description

• SERPENT II, Codename: Pit VIPER Rattle, is the four channel power MOSFET current amplifier, DC Motor and Stepper Motor controller/driver designed according to the power MOSFET transistor IRF3710. SERPENT II is an independent solution which could be easily used with any currently available embedded system development board. SERPENT II does not provide any predefined connector except screw connectors for each power MOSFET channel. Instead, protoboard provides a generic solution in order to build right adapter connectors for the target development board.

• The controller contains two parts. The first part is related to control devices, like microcontrollers, processors, SoC, development boards, without physical connection with second energy part composed of four power MOSFETs configured as an independent current amplifiers. The communication between the control and energy part is done over the opto-isolated devices 4N25 with a guaranty that control devices are safe against high currents from energy part.

• Opto-isolated inputs are implemented as open anode and open cathodes. Beside power MOSFETs, the energy part contains power MOSFET gate drivers implemented with LM393 comparators. Regarding functionality, SERPENT II provides PWM signal control, stepping and micro-stepping algorithms in order to drive DC Motors and Stepper Motors.

• The DC motor driver is implemented with through-hole technology and could be assembled with standard soldering irons. SERPENT II is applicable for all kinds of DC motor controller systems, embedded robotics and Internet of Things (IoT). There are two SERPENT II editions: PCB DIY Kit and assembled version.
